SignalRGB: lags, shuttering, input lag… Software to avoid

After setting up a brand new configuration, I wanted to install the SignalRGB software to avoid having to use 50 proprietary programs like Icue, Armory Crate etc.

What a big mistake! At first I didn’t realise anything, because I was playing New World, an MMO where the movements are fairly simple and not very dynamic, but when I switched to FPS… the horror!

SignalRGB causes :

  • Shuttering problems (screen or image tearing). Shuttering means that the display jerks, even at high fps.)
  • Input lag (mouse movements weren’t really fluid)
  • USB disconnections: my Blue Yeti microphone was disconnected every 10 seconds. I wasted a lot of time trying to find a solution, thinking it was my motherboard or a power supply problem.

Many gamers on Reddit have been complaining about this software for many years, without any reaction from the developers:

Having tried lots of different software to manage my RGB, I’ve given up. There’s nothing stable except software from the brands of your equipment, but it’s very resource-hungry.

The only solution I’ve got left, and it seems the most viable, is an ARGB controller with remote control. On Amazon I ordered the TZMRIT 2 – en – 1 argb PWM Fan hub with controller, 9 x 4 pin PWM fan connector, 9 X 5V 3Pin argb port.
